Intense pulsed light (IPL) equipment is built to create very intense blasts of light for very short amounts of time. The intense pulsed light machines contain lamps and the electrical components to the high energy bursts of light. In some ways this is similar to the camera flash but highter power. For hair removal it is currently the post popular technique. Xenon flash lamps, special filters, and elaborate ways to focus the optics control the delivery of light energy. IPL when used to treat brown spots or red spots in the skin is called photorejuvenation.
